Light-sheet microscopy is a new imaging technique that allows for high-quality visualization of the developing embryo. This technique uses a thin sheet of laser light to selectively illuminate the sample, reducing phototoxicity and increasing temporal resolution. With the help of advanced fluorescent proteins, light-sheet microscopy enables the reconstruction of the entire embryonic development at a cellular level, allowing for image-based lineage reconstruction.
